Maybe have the "travel ships" bring up the map of the area you're going to.
Instead of going automatically to the Temple from LA, have the Battle Islands map come up. And have the Tyria world map (uncovered areas, of course) come up from the Islands ship.
Maybe add a second ship at each place for the Cantha area.

Personally I just thought it was stupid to have to travel to PvP at all...why not just have all the islands where the old guild hall used to be? Sure it would make about as much sense as having all the different guild halls on the same damn island but still...it's not like the tombs change took over EVERY arena. There was no reason to move everything over except for it being this whole event thing. I liked just bringing up my map and having the arenas there. Now the easiest way for me to get to the islands is to just click the guild hall button...pfft. Now we've got...wasted islands in Tyria. And for some reason the team/competition arenas of old decided to pack up and leave...?
...I hate traveling.

I thought it was only me that thought the extra few seconds in finding the arenas was a waste of time (no seriously im that lazy).
If you hate travelling as much as me PieXags then make sure you never play WoW. It drove me insane with all the traveling after 1 week so I gave it up.

It's not a fan of the step between pve/pvp realms, but I understand the difficulty that comes with the design of this. They created realms to 'play and plug' new chapters on it. the pvp realm is a special entity that they want accessible for all chapterrealms owners.
maybe they clean it up, who knows. that would be great.

part of the reason for this is to secure up the PvP build and areas separate from the rest of the map. Using the ship ensures that any PvP people can not be accidentally dragged to the PvE world.. as happened in the beta days with PvP characters exploring PvE areas when a bug happened that sent them to ascalon one time... Once there the world was open to them and with the best of everything no less. By isolating the PvP part of the game more, this possibility is secured up from future errors of that kind. And it gives the PvP people a nice isolated area to focus on while in PvP mode... not having to go all over the map to go to different places..

Easier Travelling between Cantha/Tyria/Guild Hall
Here's how the current travelling between 'maps' works (maps being Cantha, Tyria and PvP isles)
You choose the port city to where you want to travel, then map. After that, you map to another destination.
If I'm in Market Place (Cantha) and want to get to Ascalon City (Tyria), that makes 2 loadings, which isnt efficient IMO.
What I'm suggesting is to make it so when you select a port city, then the map for that port city fades in or whatever, then you can select what outpost you'd like to travel to.
Exemple : You're in your Guild Hall, you want to travel to Henge of Denravi.
-Press M
-Click on the Boat, then select Lion's Arch (or it could be written "Continent of Tyria")
-Map of Battle Isles fades out
-Map of Continent of Tyria fades in
-You double click Henge of Denravi
-Voila
Would be much more efficient this way and we would save a load time (people with fast computers dont mind this, but people with lower end machines might end up saving 30+ seconds per travel.)
Hope I made this clear Quite simple to implement and so much more efficient way of Travelling between continents.
Thanks!

Well maybe another thing will be that when you create your pvp hero to select the zone you want to inject yourself in, like it was before factions. And every time you can magicport (lol) yourself to the guild with the guild screen.

Not a lot of replies, though I still think it should be implemented. Because right now, its a pain to have to go through LA to get to a Tyria outpost.

Instant Travel: Cross-Campaign Travel - Improvements and Discussion
I move around alot with my PVE characters across the mainland and the Battle Isles.
However, every time I want to travel, I first have to waste time going into Lion's Arch or the ever pointless Temple of Balthazar. I have to wait for the city to load, and once it does, I have to open up the map again, and choose my destination, and wait in the load screen again.
I find this really annoying, and I assume that as more expansions come out, this is going to get even more annoying.
Therefore I propose a solution:
Whenever a player wants to travel to a different continent they:
1. Click the ship icon as usual.
2. Then instead of choosing a port city that they want to travel to (ie. Lions Arch), they choose the continent to travel to (Cantha, Battle Isles..).
3. The regular travel map of the selected continent appears on the screen, and the player chooses the city that he wanted to travel to, thus not wasting time going through a different city.
Its a simple solution for a simple, yet very annoying, interface problem.
Can I get some /signed ?

/signed.... i too am greatly annoyed by this. i'm a bit of a traveler and it isn't like this would make the game any easier... it would just be elliminating an unnessicary annoyance.

I agree but the arguement is that you can only sail a ship between the port cities, and therefore must land there, you wouldn't be able to sail a ship to Ascalon and so forth. Atleast they should add Droknar's or something as a port.

I want a Sea traveling cut scene, like you on a ship, when traveling between Continents.

And theres a chance of pirates attacking like in FFXI? That'd be cool, but never would happen. I'd like to see a mission where you're on a boat though, that'd be neat.

Map/Travel Update Suggestions
Guild wars is really in need of an update to the map/travel/teleport scheme. Back when you could only travel in Tyria the system was adequate. Then Factions came along and we started to see how cumbersome this system is. Now with Nightfall and the subsequent Torment region it has become almost unbearable.
To travel to any continent you have to first travel into the ‘main’ portal town before you can move on to wherever. People are aware of this and consequently these towns have become spam central for people trying to engage in commerce. The load times for LA/KC/etc are horrible at times.
Why can’t they just have ‘Tyria, Cantha, Elona, Balthazar’ options when you select the travel ship and then when you pick the continent, it loads the map for that area and you can select a destination just like the M function works now.
Or alternately, why can’t they just have a Goto function that brings up a listing of every single city you have been to and you just pick the name and it transports you there.
At the very least I would expect this would help eliminate some of the server traffic.

This belongs in the Sardelac Sanitarium, as it is a suggestion.
I agree with this as well, although you have to admit it is a very minor inconvienence of having to map twice to get to an area.
